Why Judicial Elections Matter

The gubernatorial election is right around the corner, and most Floridians are focused on who will be elected the next Governor of the State of Florida. Before the November election, however, the August 23, 2022 primary presents Miami-Dade County voters with a decision that is perhaps more important than the gubernatorial election: the election of judges.

Why should you care about judicial elections? It’s simple: A judge is perhaps the most important person you ever meet on one of the worst days of your entire life.

Senators cannot sentence you to prison. Congresspeople cannot force you to pay alimony or take away your children. The Governor does not decide how much you inherit in a probate matter. The President does not decide the merits of your case in a civil lawsuit or instruct the jury on the law.

In all of these cases, it is the judge who makes sure the rights of the parties are protected, and, as a result, you owe it to yourself, your family, your neighbors, and your community to cast an educated vote for judges in the August 23, 2022 primary election.
